The forces of the Yemeni army and Popular Committees launched counterattacks against mercenaries of the Riyadh regime, killing and injuring dozens of them in the west-central province of Marib.
In a major operation in Sirwah District in Marib on Thursday, dozens of mercenaries of the Saudi-led coalition were shot to death by the Yemeni forces, the Arabic language al-Manar news channel reported.
One of the main ringleaders of the Saudi mercenaries was also killed during the operation, according to the report.
In another development, the missile command of the Yemeni army fired two missiles at a gathering of mercenaries of the fugitive former President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, a close ally of Riyadh, east of Marib Province, a military source told Lebanon’s al-Mayadeen news channel.
Following the missile attack, heavy casualties were inflicted on the Saudi mercenaries, according to the source.
The attacks by the Yemeni forces were carried out in retaliation for the continued massacre of civilians by the Saudi-led coalition in Yemen.
Since March 25, 2015, Saudi Arabia and some of its Arab allies have been carrying out airstrikes against the Houthi Ansarullah movement in an attempt to restore power to Yemen’s fugitive former president.
According to Yemen’s Legal Center of Rights and Development, the Saudi campaign has claimed the lives of over 12,000 Yemenis and left more than 20,000 others wounded.
