A large number of Iranian political and cultural figures voiced solidarity with the people of Tajikistan in fighting the coronavirus epidemic in that country.
“We express our empathy and solidarity with the people of Tajikistan,” the Iranian politicians and academicians said in a message.
Mohammad Hassan Sanati (faculty member of Geopolitical Institute of Farabi University) , Mohammad Jafar Yahaqi (head of Ferdowsi Scientific hub of Ferdowsi University of Mashhad), and Mohammad Hossein Abedini (expert in charge of cultural relations development in Central Asia) were among the signatories of the message to Tajik people.
More than 4,971 people in Tajikistan have been infected with the coronavirus, 50 of have died.
In mid-May, Head of Mashhad International Airport for public relations Hassan Jafari announced Iran and Tajikistan have resumed their flights after a halt due to the outbreak of coronavirus.
“The flight between Mashhad and Dushanbe resumed with 60 passengers on board,” Jafari said.
He also noted that 3.5 tons of medical and health consignment were also transferred through the flight to Tajikistan.
