Supreme Leader of the Muslim Ummah and Oppressed People Ayatollah Seyed Imam Ali Khamenei praised Palestinian resistance groups for their victories against Israel in the recent Gaza war, and further said that officials in Tel Aviv should be concerned that they may not see the Zionist regime’s 80th anniversary as the occupying regime is in a passive position.
The Leader made the remarks in a meeting with Secretary General of Palestine’s Islamic Jihad movement Ziad Al-Nakhaleh and his accompanying delegation in Tehran on Wednesday.
Ayatollah Khamenei congratulated the Islamic Jihad on its historic triumph against the occupying entity early last month and stressed that the current status of the Israeli regime is “much different” compared to 70 years ago.
“The Palestinian Islamic Jihad did well in the test of the recent battle of Gaza, and now the conditions for the Zionist regime have changed compared to 70 years ago, and the Zionist leaders have the right to worry about not seeing the regime’s 80th year,” he stressed.
“Today, the Zionist enemy is in a position of passivity and reaction, and this situation shows that the Palestinian Islamic Jihad and resistance groups have correctly identified the path and are following it,” the Supreme Leader added.
In early May, Israel launched a deadly bombing campaign on the Gaza Strip, sparking the firing of over 1,000 rockets by Palestinian fighters toward the occupied territories. At least 33 Palestinians, including children and women, were killed and more than 150 wounded in the besieged enclave.
The conflict marked the worst episode of fighting between Gaza’s resistance factions and the Israeli regime since a 10-day war in 2021.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Iran’s Leader stressed that achieving great goals requires taking great risks, noting, “Today, by the grace of God, the strength and credibility of the Palestinian resistance groups and Islamic Jihad is increasing day by day, and the Zionist regime’s recent defeat in the five-day war confirms this.”
He said that the Islamic Jihad and other Palestinian resistance groups have discovered the main “key” to fight the Israeli regime, adding, “The growing power of the resistance groups in the West Bank is the key to bringing the Zionist enemy to its knees, and this path must continue.”
Ayatollah Khamenei appreciated the Palestinian combatant groups’ initiative for their unity in the political and battlefield arena, describing it as “very important”. He underscored the continuation of the Islamic Republic’s support for the Palestinian people and combatant groups.
Nakhaleh, for his part, expressed his gratitude for Iran’s constant support of the Palestinian people and their struggles while reporting on the recent developments in the occupied Palestinian territories.
“The Islamic Jihad emerged victorious from the Gaza war and we hope to soon witness the final victory and the liberation of Al-Quds,” he underlined.
Iran describes Israel as the root cause of the region’s instability and insecurity, but also stresses Israel’s US-supported barbarity will not change the inevitable fate of the Tel Aviv regime.
Tehran says the history of the apartheid regime is full of assassinations, massacre, torture and killing of Palestinian kids, and described Tel Aviv regime’s atrocities and massacre of Palestinian women and children as indicative of the destitute of Zionists. Iranian officials say the Tel Aviv regime has been struggling for more than 70 years to exit its identity crisis which has been mixed with genocide, plunder, forced displacement and scores of other inhumane moves.
The regime has become more violent since Benjamin Netanyahu came back to power last year as the leader of a far-right coalition cabinet. The ongoing violence has prompted international calls for calm, with the European Union urging an immediate ceasefire.
In early April, Ayatollah Khamenei said that the internal crises within the Israeli regime have accelerated the collapse of the Zionists to happen even before the 25-year deadline previously declared by him.
While referring to the Zionist regime as an enemy of the Islamic Republic, Ayatollah Khamenei pointed out that during the regime’s 75 years of existence, it has never faced problems like the dire ones it is facing today.
“The Zionist regime has political instability and has changed four prime ministers in four years; party coalitions collapse before forming; there is an extreme bipolarity throughout the fake regime, which is highlighted by the demonstrations of hundreds of thousands of people in some cities. It is not possible for them to try to make up for these weaknesses by firing a few rockets,” the Leader stated, while giving examples of the Zionist regime’s chaotic and collapsing state.
He considered the warnings of Israeli officials regarding the nearing collapse of the Zionist regime as another sign of their weakening.
“We had mentioned [in 2015] that the Zionist regime would not see 25 years from then, but it seems as though they themselves are in a rush and want to leave sooner,” the Supreme Leader stressed.
A significant number of people are looking for an escape route from the occupied territories amid the deepening political and existential crisis facing the Israeli regime led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, according to Israeli media.
