The spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry said the assassination of Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran will strengthen the inseparable bonds between Iran and Palestine.
In a statement on Wednesday, Nasser Kanaani expressed condolences to the Palestinian nation, the Hamas movement, other Palestinian resistance groups, all resistance currents in the region, and the nations supporting the cause of Palestine over the martyrdom of Haniyeh in Tehran.
He stated the blood of Haniyeh, who devoted his life to a dignified struggle against the Zionist regime and to the liberation of al-Quds, has not been shed in vain.
The spokesman emphasized that the martyrdom of Haniyeh will strengthen the deep and inseparable bonds between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Palestine and resistance.
Iranian organizations are investigating the dimensions and details of the incident, Kanaani noted.
The IRGC announced in a statement on Wednesday morning that Haniyeh and one of his bodyguards were killed when their residence in the Iranian capital was hit in an attack.
The statement said the attack is under investigation and the results will be announced later in the day.
The Palestinian resistance leader was in Tehran to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.
