Iranian President Seyed Ebrahim Rayeesi blasted the Israeli regime for attempting to disintegrate Sudan, and said that the western countries are pursuing a separatist policy in the African country.
The Iranian president made the remarks in a meeting with Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad in Damascus.
“The Zionists with the support of their western supporters are pursuing a separatist policy in Sudan today, and the people of Sudan and the Islamic world must be careful of the Zionists’ plots and know that the most important need for Muslim nations today is unity and that the Islamic Republic is the herald and inviter of all Muslims to unity,” President Rayeesi added.
The Syrian foreign minister, for his part, said that Iran has good capacities in the fields of economy, trade, energy, science and technology, which can be used to improve the level of relations between the two countries, and we must follow the implementation of the agreements made between the two countries seriously.
President Rayeesi and his accompanying delegation, which includes foreign, oil, defense, finance and economic affairs and roads and urban development ministers as well as Iran’s central bank chief, landed in the Syrian capital on Wednesday for a two-day trip. It marks the first state visit by an Iranian head of state to Damascus in 13 years.
Rayeesi and his Syrian counterpart Bashar Al-Assad held a meeting on Wednesday and singed an agreement on “long-term strategic comprehensive cooperation” between the two countries.
The two presidents have highlighted the importance of Iran-Syria’s long-term cooperation plan for advancing the interests of the two nations and other countries in the region.
