New maritime details emerge following Saudi airstrikes on commercial vessels in Ras Isa

HODEIDA, Nov. 02 (YPA) – Local and maritime sources in Hodeida Governorate revealed new details on Monday regarding recent airstrikes launched by Saudi warplanes targeting commercial shipping at the Ras Isa port.

According to maritime sources, the airstrikes directly struck two commercial vessels. Registered maritime data confirmed that the first ship was the general cargo vessel “RSM BLESSED”, flying the flag of Saint Kitts and Nevis. The vessel was carrying a crew of 15 sailors, the majority of whom are Syrian nationals, and was loaded with various commercial goods. Maritime reports further indicated that a second commercial vessel docked at the same location was also targeted, with specific details regarding its identity and cargo capacity currently withheld for security reasons.

Reports also stated that the airstrikes extended to civilian transport trucks positioned along the commercial port’s docks, resulting in their destruction.

Commenting on the developments, Hizam al-Asad, a member of the Ansarallah Political Bureau, stated that the targeting of commercial shipping and trade represents a grave escalation. Al-Asad warned Saudi Arabia, stating that by targeting commercial navigation, it had opened a door it would not be able to close, and affirmed that forthcoming responses would put an end to these actions.
