US Nuclear Claims Aim to Pressure Iran: Spokesman

Date:

Spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry Esmaeil Baqaei said allegations against Iran’s peaceful nuclear program are being used by the US as a tool of pressure, reflecting Washington’s broader hostility toward the country.

In comments on Tuesday, Baqaei said the US has repeatedly violated fundamental principles of international law, including the sovereign equality of states and the right of peoples to self-determination.

He described the allegations against Iran’s nuclear program as a pretext for imposing severe sanctions and restrictions, stressing that no evidence has been presented to prove any deviation from its peaceful course.

Baqaei also said Washington uses diplomacy to impose its demands rather than pursue genuine negotiations, adding that statements about returning Iran to the Stone Age reveal the anti-Iranian nature of US policies.

The Iranian spokesman traced the roots of US hostility to its intervention in Iran in the 1950s and said efforts to undermine the country through sanctions and allegations against its nuclear program have failed.
