TAIZ, Nov. 05 (YPA) – Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) in Yemen has refuted claims that Sanaa forces are besieging Taiz, saying it delivered medical supplies to Al-Thawra hospital in the city without restrictions.
In a statement on Wednesday, the organization said it had provided life-saving medical supplies to support the treatment of wounded patients in the hospital’s operating rooms and inpatient wards amid escalating clashes and growing medical needs.
MSF added that over the previous two weeks, it had also treated wounded patients at Al-Qaeda General Hospital in Dhi Al-Sufal District, near Taiz, where fighting continues.
The statement stressed that medical care requires not only the provision of supplies but also safe passage for patients, ambulances, health workers and medicines.
It reaffirmed its commitment to the Yemeni people and said it would continue providing care based on identified needs.
Meanwhile, local sources in Taiz disputed reports that the city is under siege, saying traffic continued and goods and supplies are entering through roads leading to the city.
The sources also criticized the silence of Saudi-affiliated media outlets and organizations over abuses in neighborhoods under the control of Saudi-backed forces, including the use of homes and schools as fighting positions, putting civilians at risk.
