TEHRAN, Nov. 05 (YPA) – Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei strongly denied on Thursday claims that Iranian military experts are present in Yemen, rejecting the EU foreign policy chief’s accusation that Tehran is interfering in the conflict between Saudi Arabia and Yemen. He reaffirmed Iran’s readiness to help achieve peace.
Baghaei described the claims as “fake news” intended to conceal facts and mislead public opinion, saying the Yemeni people possess the capabilities, expertise, courage and determination to defend their sovereignty and dignity without outside intervention.
He accused the European Union of being a partner in serious human rights violations in Yemen through its participation in imposing sanctions and an economic blockade, adding that European officials cannot evade responsibility through statements intended to divert attention from the facts.
Baghaei also condemned military attacks on various parts of Yemen, particularly civilian facilities, vital infrastructure and residential areas. He said the attacks had killed more than 270 Yemenis, including 130 children and women, wounded over 650 others, and destroyed infrastructure and homes.
He called for an end to attacks on Yemen’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, stressing that peace in the Arabian Peninsula requires halting military operations, respecting the Yemeni people’s right to self-determination, lifting the naval and air blockade, and holding dialogue based on the roadmap agreed upon by Yemenis and Saudi Arabia.
Baghaei reiterated that Iran is ready to provide any assistance toward achieving peace.
