Saudi Arabia shifts schools to remote learning in major cities

RIYADH, Nov. 01 (YPA) –  Saudi Arabia’s education authorities announced on Sunday that in-person classes would be suspended and replaced with remote learning in several major cities, from Sunday through next Thursday.

The decision covers the capital, Riyadh, as well as Jeddah, Rabigh, Yanbu, Taif, Abha, Khamis Mushait and Jazan.

Although the Ministry of Education described the move as a routine precautionary measure, political and military analysts linked its timing to concerns about a possible new escalation, particularly given that several of the cities affected have previously been targeted by airstrikes and ballistic missiles.

Observers said the decision could reflect security concerns over potential attacks on vital and economic facilities amid ongoing regional tensions.
