Iran’s nuclear doctrine could change should US resume war: Iran’s Rezaei

Iran is discussing whether to keep its nuclear doctrine in place if war breaks out again, though no new decision has been made to change it, Supreme National Security Council Secretary Mohsen Rezaei said Saturday.

Hawzah News Agency- Mohsen Rezaei told Iranian state television that the push for change is coming from the public. Watching the enemy strike nuclear facilities, he said, people naturally wonder why Iran should remain bound by its previous doctrine.

Rezaei revealed that he has read the message from US Vice President JD Vance but has not yet responded. Washington’s tone has changed entirely, he noted, calling this “a positive sign that the Iranian people have consolidated their victory and strength.”

Iran’s resilience against US aggression has led countries in the region to consider a new security framework, Rezaei said. Foreign powers must leave, he stressed, and regional states should take responsibility for their own security.

Regarding the quadrilateral meeting that took place this past week, Rezaei stated that the delegates who visited Tehran were trying to “define the contours” of that framework, he stated, adding that participants in the four-way meeting spoke firmly against “Israel.”

Saudi Arabia’s defense minister told him that after Iran, “Israel” would set its sights on Turkey and then Saudi Arabia, Rezaei disclosed. The “Mecca Agreement” and Yemen did not come up, he said, as the talks focused on shaping the region’s future arrangements.

Separately, Iran’s Leader Sayyed Mojtaba Khamenei said Saturday that the armed forces and the Iranian people will decide when the war ends and on what terms if attacks resume.

Meeting senior military commanders, he called for full combat readiness to ensure maximum deterrence and an immediate, effective response to threats anywhere, with all US and Israeli assets, tangible and intangible, kept within range of Iran’s armed forces.
