Syrian sources have reported that the Israeli regime is preparing to establish a new military and intelligence base on Jabal al-Druze in Suwayda, southern Syria.
Syrian sources have revealed that Israeli occupation forces have begun transferring advanced military equipment to the summit of Jabal al-Druze in Suwayda, apparently preparing to establish a new Israeli military installation in the area.
The Syria 360 news website, citing a source, reported that dozens of Israeli military helicopters had transported large quantities of weapons, equipment and advanced devices to the location.
The proposed base could be used for intelligence gathering, surveillance and early warning, with radar systems potentially deployed at the site, according to the report.
The source said Israeli military personnel had arrived to assess the location and prepare the infrastructure needed for the installation, adding that most personnel involved in the operation were settlers of Druze origin.
Jabal al-Druze, also known as Jabal al-Arab, is located in Suwayda province, a predominantly Druze region.
Israeli occupation forces expand operations
Meanwhile, local Syrian sources reported that Israeli occupation forces were continuing to survey hills seized during incursions in early October, including positions on the western outskirts of Damascus.
Local sources told Al-Akhbar that United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF) personnel had informed residents of plans to establish an observation and reconnaissance post at Tal al-Hamriya in the northern Quneitra countryside.
Israeli troops reportedly warned residents of Taranja to leave within a specified period, claiming their homes were close to newly constructed barriers along the road connecting the village with Hader.
The operation reportedly involved the destruction of nearly four dunams of land.
Local sources said the barriers were subsequently removed temporarily before Israeli forces gradually expanded their presence, with the latest deployment involving four tanks.
Earlier reports indicated that logistical equipment had been introduced at Tal al-Hamriya in April 2026, raising the possibility that the site would become an advanced observation post inside Syrian territory.
Incursions disrupt civilian life
Israeli military activity has also extended toward Durbal in the western Damascus countryside, following reported bombardments of abandoned military barracks near Baqasem and a 12-hour reconnaissance drone flight over Damascus and surrounding areas.
The incursions have reportedly involved temporary checkpoints, searches of civilians and inspections of homes in villages and towns entered by Israeli forces.
Local sources said raids, gunfire and road closures had become routine, particularly in Quneitra, where checkpoints frequently prevent Syrian civilians from travelling freely.
Residents are sometimes stranded for hours, disrupting daily life and intensifying fears over the continued expansion of Israeli military operations inside Syria.
The reported preparations come amid continued Israeli incursions into Syrian territory since the rise to power of Abu Mohammad al-Jolani’s administration, which the source accuses of paving the way for Israel’s expansion and efforts to fragment Syria.
