Saudi-backed forces establish new military checkpoints in Lahj to arrest fleeing of Al-Maqatirah front
LAHJ, Nov. 01 (YPA) – The Saudi-backed forces have established new checkpoints in the Tur Al-Bahah district of Lahj governorate to arrest militants fleeing clashes with Sana’a forces over the past few hours.
A local source confirmed that field commanders directed elements of the “Military Police” to establish a checkpoint in the Al-Sumaita area to apprehend those fleeing the Al-Maqatirah front.
He explained that hundreds of deserters were arrested and prevented from reaching Aden, and dozens who attempted to bypass the checkpoints under the pretext of accompanying the wounded were turned back.
The source indicated that the measures came after rapid collapses in the ranks of the Saudi-backed forces due to the advance of Sana’a forces over the past two days on the Al-Maqatirah front, pointing out that Saudi intelligence elements were tasked with submitting daily lists of the deserters’ names in order to impose strict penalties on them, including withholding their financial entitlements.
