Bahrain Regime Extends Detention of Clerics, Hussainiya Directors Over Fatima Mourning Ceremonies

The Al Khalifa regime’s prosecution has ordered the renewal of detention for a number of citizens, including Husseini preachers, who were arrested for participating in mourning ceremonies marking the martyrdom of Hazrat Fatima al-Zahra (peace be upon her) — the latest move in the regime’s relentless campaign against Bahrain’s Muslim community.

Hawzah News Agency- the prosecution affiliated with the Al Khalifa regime decided to extend the detention of several citizens, including Husseini preachers, who had been arrested following their participation in mourning ceremonies commemorating the martyrdom of Hazrat Fatima al-Zahra (peace be upon her).

Accordingly, the detention of Sheikh Habib Abbas Khamis, head of the Haj Ahmed bin Khamis Husseiniya, and Mulla Habib al-Darazi, a Husseini preacher, was extended for 15 days pending further investigation.

Al-Darazi had previously been arrested over an audio file in which he was heard reciting Ziyarat Ashura. The Al Khalifa regime’s Interior Ministry has claimed the act constitutes “insulting symbols revered or sanctified by followers of this faith” and could lead to “inciting sedition and harming social peace.”
