Dozens arrested in London during protest in support of Palestine action

LONDON, Nov. 01 (YPA) – British police arrested dozens of people during a demonstration in London in support of Palestine Action, which was banned in the UK over its activities targeting companies doing business with Israel.

Protesters staged a sit-in outside the US Embassy in the Nine Elms area of London to express their support for the group. They sat on the ground holding signs reading, “I oppose genocide and support Palestine Action,” while police arrested several participants.

London’s Metropolitan Police said 48 people had been arrested. Meanwhile, the protest organizers, Defend Our Juries, said in a post on X that some demonstrators were detained for carrying blank signs. Police also confiscated dolls brought to the protest.

Palestine Action is known for organizing protests targeting companies linked to Israel. In June 2025, activists broke into the British RAF Brize Norton airbase after cutting through its perimeter fencing, sprayed red paint on the engines of military aircraft and raised a Palestinian flag.

Following the incident, then Home Secretary Yvette Cooper initiated proceedings to ban the group. The ban officially took effect in July 2025.

On February 13, the UK High Court ruled that the Home Office’s decision to designate Palestine Action as a banned organization was unlawful and ordered the ban lifted. However, police said they would continue arresting the group’s supporters, as the government has been granted the right to appeal the ruling.
