The Iranian Navy’s Public Relations Department announced Thursday morning that a rogue oil tanker traveling in an unsafe area east of the Strait of Hormuz caught fire and was stopped after hitting a naval mine.
Like other tankers that hit naval mines and caught fire in the past few days, this tanker had turned off its detection and navigation systems, it noted.
The Iranian Navy emphasized that any war against Iran will only result in defeat.
“We are announcing to ship owners for the umpteenth time that the Strait of Hormuz is unsafe and closed to rogue vessels that intend to travel without coordination,” it added.
Earlier, the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) said that two oil tankers and a tugboat had caught fire after passing through the Strait of Hormuz illegally.
