Anti-war activists, civil society campaigners and dozens of Iranians living in Britain staged a demonstration outside the US Embassy in London on Saturday, condemning Washington’s military threats against Iran and calling for an end to US and Israeli military aggression in the region.
Carrying Iranian flags and placards reading “Hands off Iran” and “No to war,” demonstrators denounced the hostile policies of Washington and the Israeli regime, urging an immediate halt to military adventurism and warning against further escalation.
The rally was organized by the Stop the War Coalition and the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (CND), with the participation of expatriate Iranians, in the Nine Elms area of London.
In its call for the demonstration, CND cited a recent US attack on Iran’s Qeshm Island and fresh threats by US President Donald Trump against the country, stressing that the war pursued by Trump and Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu must be stopped.
The campaign also highlighted the consequences of the US-Israeli war against Iran, linking the Republican Party’s heavy losses in the US midterm elections to public opposition to the aggression and calling on the British government to withdraw its support for the war.
Meanwhile, protesters urged British Prime Minister Andy Burnham to explicitly rule out the use of UK military bases, including Fairford and Diego Garcia, for any further attacks against Iran.
Demonstrators also called for an end to Western military backing for the Israeli regime, whose ongoing genocide in Gaza and military operations across the region have drawn widespread condemnation.
On Wednesday, the British premier said the Republican Party’s defeat in the US congressional midterm elections had created a fresh opportunity to end the war against Iran, emphasizing the need to reduce tensions in West Asia.
